FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; applicable in smelting of pig iron with low content of sulfur. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging into blast furnace or iron ore burden containing pellets with basicity of 0.3-0.5 and sinter; introduction into burden of coke and fluxes. Charged into blast furnace are pellets in amount of 30-70% of total iron ore burden. Fluxes are used in the form of domolite, limestone and line in ratio of 1.0:(3.5-3.6):(0.5-0.6) and introduced into sinter. Total consumption of fluxes per ton of pig iron and sinter basicity by (CaO+MgO)/(SiO2+Al2O3) are determined by definite expressions. EFFECT: low content of sulfur, reduced consumption of coke and increased productivity of blast furnace. 2 tbl, 1 ex
