FIELD: mechanical engineering; heat engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to external heating machines operating according to Stirling cycle and, in ideal case, according to isotherm-isochore-isotherm-isochore cycle. Purpose of invention is creation of self-contained fuelless power-generating plant highly competitive with i9nternal combustion engines, and improvement of heat characteristics of engines by provision of complete heat insulation of chamber filled with liquid hydrogen owing to exclusion of common shaft passing from heat-insulated chamber into non-heat-insulated chamber. This is provided by use of two synchronously rotating electrical machines: generator made according to superconductivity technology, placed in heat- insulated chamber filled with liquid hydrogen and rotated by shaft of rocking plate mechanism and delivering electric power to consumers, and electric motor arranged in upper non-heat-insulated chamber and rotated by shaft of second mechanism of rocking plate. Rotation of shafts and movement of rocking plates are brought into synchronism by provision of discrete transducers of angular position of rotating shafts and control computer in which angular misalignment of shafts of rocking plate mechanisms and matching amplifier controlled by signal from computer for elimination of angular misalignment of rotating shafts is calculated in real time.
