FIELD: machine engineering, possibly working second-order surfaces formed by revolution of convex or concave second-order curve around its symmetry axis. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of working blank in three-coordinate machine tool by means of rotating cutting tool during several passes at approximating second-order surface with predetermined accuracy due to use of set of circles arranged in middle sections of second-order surface; at each pass working blank along arc of said circles; realizing shaping motion by matched feed of tool and blank in two mutually normal directions; determining feed relation of tool and blank with use of coordinate change of peripheral point of tool cutting edge laying on circle arc according to given formula; mounting worked blank in stand provided with members for mounting and fixing blank and secured to table. Table is mounted with possibility of programmable continuous and discrete motions along one coordinate. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of working second-order surface, less wear of tool, reduced operational time period. 3 cl, 5 dwg
