SUBSTANCE: method comprises multiple circulation of aliphatic alcohol containing not higher than 1% of water selected from CH3OH and C2H5OH, with alkali metal compound through holder. Alkali metal compound is precalcined alkali metal carbonate selected from Li2CO3, Na2CO3, K2CO3. In order to prepare lithium, sodium or potassium methylates, methanol and corresponding alkali metal carbonate are used. In order to prepare lithium, potassium or sodium ethylates, ethanol and corresponding alkali metal carbonate are used. Method makes it possible to avoid separating water resulting from reaction and hydrolysis of the resulting alcoholates. Well-known conditions do not produce alcoholates from alcohols and corresponding carbonates.
