FIELD: methods of separation of mixture of gaseous products formed in process of catalytic synthesis of methyl percaptan. SUBSTANCE: method of separating mixture of gaseous products formed in process of catalytic synthesis of methyl mercaptan from hydrogen sulfide and methanol into components including methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, polysulfides, water, methanol, hydrogen sulfide and inert gases includes separation of flow of reaction gaseous products into water condensate containing hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan and dimethyl sulfide, and flow of residual gas containing hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan by two-stage condensation, washing of noncondensed gases with methanol, distillation of washing methanol, organic and water phases. In claimed method as distinct from known ones, losses of hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan in withdrawal from process of inert gases are reduced due to improved separation of mixture of gaseous products into its components. Inert gases may be burnt without additional cleaning of flue gases. Process water withdrawn from process also has low contact of polysulfide. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 8 cl, 2 dwg
