FIELD: downhole instruments and methods of well gravimetric prospecting. SUBSTANCE: downhole instrument has a high-pressure vessel in which gravimetric transducer is installed on universal joint. Prior to performance of gravimetric measurements, gravimeter transducer is adjusted by vertical with the help of the first and second step motors. The first step motor executes step rotation of universal joint relative to its rotation axis, and the second step motor executes step rotation of universal joint relative to longitudinal axis of the high-pressure vessel. Step motors are controlled by electronic regulator which responds to signals of accelerometer unit measuring inclination of the high-pressure vessel with respect to vertical. Hoisting mechanism moves gravimetric transducer from one point of measurement of gravity force inside the high-pressure vessel to next point of measurement, and optical encoder registers position of gravimetric transducer inside the high-pressure vessel.
