FIELD: biodecomposable polyesters, more particularly manufacture of thermoplastic products. SUBSTANCE: polyester has formula: wherein R is hydrocarbon substituted by at least one hydroxy group, optionally in combination with divalent aromatic residue or with other hydrocarbon: R2 is independently aromatic residue or hydrocarbon: R3 is independently hydrogen or lower C1-C4 alkyl; x is 0.05-0.4 and y is 0-0.5. Polyester is prepared by reacting hydroxyfunctional aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or mixture of mixture which comprises hydroxyfunctional dicarboxylic acids with diglycidyl ether or diglycidyl ester in the presence of onium catalyst in ether solvent.
