FIELD: metal working in machine tools with number program control, for multipass planing, particularly for engraving at rotation of cutter for making drawings on metallographic forms used for manufacturing products with high degree of protection against counterfeit. SUBSTANCE: cutter includes stem and pyramidal working portion restricted by flat front face, by main and additional back faces forming apex of working portion and by additional back faces. One rib of pyramidal working portion is in the form of main cutting edge of main wedge angle; its other rib is in the form of additional cutting edge, face angle is equal to zero and cross section of working portion is the form of versatile polyhedron. In order to enlarge using range of cutter and to decrease labor consumption for pointing it, apex-forming back faces are inclined by the same angle relative to stem axis; main wedge angle is less than 70 degrees and sides of above mentioned polyhedron belonging to additional back faces are shorter than side belonging to main back face. EFFECT: improved design. 11 cl, 26 dwg _
