FIELD: treatment of natural gas for removing water therefrom and/or extracting impurities of higher hydrocarbons. SUBSTANCE: pretreated gas is separated into volumes each being subjected to one cooling stage. One of aqueous phase fractions resulting from cooling, condensation and separation is made to contact with gas being treated within contact zone. Aqueous phase includes partially miscible water. Some gas being treated is saturated with solvent. Purified gas is separated by settling from aqueous phase and phase of liquid hydrocarbons. EFFECT: more efficient treatment method. 13 cl, 2 ex, 4 dwg, 1 tbl
