FIELD: steel smelting. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for intercepting slag during discharging of steel from converters has guides 1, movable carriage 6 mounted in guides 1 and equipped with bar 15 positioned for rotation in horizontal plane, carriage drive 7, two additional supporting members 2 and 10. Guides 1 are mounted on one of additional supporting members for rotation in vertical and horizontal planes. Other supporting member 10 is fixed on guides and arranged at the side of converter 11. Grip member is attached to outer surface of guides 1. Bar 15 is mounted for cooperation with supporting member 10 and automatic withdrawal in vertical plane in operating position. Construction of apparatus provides for precise entry of stopper-ball into steel discharge opening. EFFECT: enhanced reliability in operation and simplified construction. 2 dwg
