SUBSTANCE: invention describes derivatives of piperazine of the general formula (I) given in the invention claim where R₁ means hydrogen atom or lower alkyl; R² means hydrogen atom, lower alkyl, OR₆, SR₆, NHSO₂R₆, C(O)NR₆R₇, NR₆R₇ or N(R₇)C(O)R₆; R₃ and R₄ mean independently hydrogen atom or possible the following substituted groups: lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, for example, phenyl or naphthyl or benzyl where indicated substituent is halogen atom, hydroxyl, lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl or phenyl; or R₃ and R₄ in common with carbon atom to which they are bound form 9-xanthenyl or 9-fluorenyl; R₅ means substituted phenyl where indicated substituent is lower alkyl, -CN, halogen atom, hydroxy-lower alkyl, hydroxycycloalkyl, lower alkoxy-lower alkyl or lower alkoxyl; R₆ and R₇ mean independently hydrogen atom or the following possible substituted or unsubstituted groups: lower alkyl, phenyl or benzyl where indicated substituent is lower alkyl with exception the case when R₃ and R₄ mean hydrogen and R₂ means hydroxyl; or one of its pharmaceutically acceptable salts. Compounds of the formula (I) show affinity to α₁-adrenergic receptors and useful as drugs for treatment of patients with portal hypertension and cirrhosis.
