FIELD: knitting engineering. SUBSTANCE: stretching mechanism has driving, guiding and driven shafts, and pressing drum, which are arranged parallel one with respect to another and positioned for rotation on frame of circular machine. Stretching fabric is tightened on shafts so that it embraces pressing drum over arc of circle of 220-260 deg. Axis of rotation of drum is positioned below axis of rotation of driving shaft for distance l, equal to product of half the diameter of pressing drum and sinus of angle equal to half the difference between angled part supported by arc of circle, through which pressing drum is embraced with stretching fabric and 180 deg. Distance between axes of driving shaft and pressing drum is in accordance with condition: . Such construction of mechanism allows pressure force applied by stretching mechanism members per unit of area of fabric folded in two to be reduced, link deformation to be eliminated and equilibrium link structure to be obtained. Built-in pressing drum adjustment system enables knitted fabric of different thickness to be processed. EFFECT: simplified construction and increased efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
