FIELD: oil and gas producing industry for determination of porosity of propping materials which fill cracks formed in hydraulic fracturing of formation and gravel filters built up for avoidance of removal of sand from wells using slightly cemented collectors. SUBSTANCE: preliminarily suspended dry loose material is placed in container and compressed at effective pressure, after which volume of specimen thus formed is calculated and pressure is relieved; then, specimen is saturated with kerosene under pressure and effective pressure is applied again is held till stabilization, after which saturated specimen is weighed and volume of its pores is calculated by known dependences by the following formula: , where Vsp is volume of specimen, cu. m; ρl is density of liquid used for saturation of specimen, kg/cu. m; G2 is mass of kerosene-saturated specimen, kg; G1 dry specimen mass, kg. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of determination of porosity of natural and synthetic materials.
