FIELD: evaluating residual oil saturation ratio of loose rock. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of specimen for analysis from core, simulation of strata conditions therein, metering of kerosene penetration in specimen, its saturation with oil, oil displacement by stratal water, and determination of residual oil saturation by volumetric method. Novelty is that lump of core that has retained its structure is placed in cylindrical container, free space within the latter is filled with crushed rock of this core, axial thrust is applied to compress it until steady state pressure is attained, length of specimen formed inside cylindrical container is measured, comprehensive analyses are made without removing specimen from container, whereupon the latter is disassembled, core lump that has retained its structure is taken out, and its residual oil saturation is determined by extraction-distillation method. EFFECT: enhanced precision of residual oil saturation evaluation. 1 tbl
