SURGICAL METHOD FOR TREATING EARLY STAGE MAMMARY GLAND CARCINOMA Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying intraoperative expresscytodiagnostics based on the following parameter set including operation wound washed-off sample, smears-imprints of removed parenchyma preparation taken from the nipple area, central section, supero-internal quadrant, supero-external quadrant, infero-internal quadrant, infero-external quadrant, from the internal surface of the skin flap taken from the papilla area and periareolar zone in corresponding quadrants and at the parenchyma-to-skin transition places. At least one of the cited parameters showing positive result, prognosis is considered to be unfavorable and complete mastectomy operation is performed. All parameters in the mentioned parameter set showing negative response, subcutaneous mastectomy is done. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment; retained skin and papilla mammae.
