FIELD: commercial and sanitary gas cleaning in various branches of industry. SUBSTANCE: the electrostatic precipitator has corona-forming electrodes of components with fixed discharge points, gas-permeable precipitating electrodes made of two parallel rows of precipitating elements placed between which are a filter bed and gas-permeable partitions connecting in pairs the precipitating electrodes on the side of the inlet and outlet of the gas flow so that a zigzag contour is formed. The gas-permeable partitions are made of one row of precipitating elements and the filter bed positioned behind it in the direction of gas flow. Such an arrangement of the electrostatic precipitator provides for an enhanced harmful agents (sulfur oxide up to 98.5%). The maximum efficiency of cleaning is attained when the filter bed of the precipitating electrodes is made of granular material with a degree of dispersion decreasing in the direction of gas flow by zones with making of the filter beds of the gas-permeable partitions of granular material with the same degree of dispersion as in the adjoining zones of the filter bed of the precipitating electrodes.
