FIELD: mechanical engineering; repairs of engines. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, cylinder head is removed from cylinder block and clearances between cylinder liners and cylinder block are eliminated. For this purpose cylinder liners are taken out of cylinder block, and layer of viscous compound paste, thickness 0.1-0.2 mm, is applied to ring seat surface in cylinder block bore. Paste consists of 12-25 % of anaerobic sealant and 75-88% of copper powder. Then each liner is installed in cylinder block tom contact by lower ring surface of bead with layer of paste. Dummy metal gaskets, rectangular in plan, are installed on surface of cylinder block at both sides from bead of each linear, square to longitudinal axis of cylinder block. Length of each gasket is commensurable with outer diameter of liner bead, and ratio of gasket width to distance between beads of neighbor liners is 0.8-1.0. Thickness of gasket is equal normal value of projection of liner bead relative to cylinder block surface. Dummy cylinder head is fitted on cylinder block, and cylinder block-to-head attachment bolts are tightened by torque whose value is 25-30% of rated head bolt tightening toque. Cylinder head is held in this position till full polymerization of paste then cylinder head attachment bolts are turned out, head is removed from cylinder block and rectangular gaskets are taken out.
