FIELD: railway transport; vehicle couplers. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to couplers of railway vehicles with similar design mating parts designed for catching alignment members of couplers for automatic joining of cars at considerable deviations of coupler axes in horizontal and vertical planes. Proposed automatic coupler consists of head housing with mounting or receiving holes, cylindrical guide element. Lock mechanism and guide element fasteners. Guide element has coaxial guide surfaces in form of cones differing in cone angles and guide horizontal flats and chamfers. The latter are arranged in places of intersection of conical surface, cylindrical surface and flats. EFFECT: compact design, small mass, reduced labor input in manufacture, provision of optimum characteristics as to reliability, cost and layout. 2 cl, 4 dwg
