FIELD: heating of coke ovens. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes regular change of direction of motion of heating gas and air fed to heating walls at preset flow rate, and discontinuance of delivery of gas and air which are fed to heating walls when coking period is increased. Reduction of hourly consumption is performed through increase of duration of interval and/or reduction of duration of delivery of gas and air between two intervals. EFFECT: avoidance of non-uniform heating of oven brickwork.
