FIELD: optics. SUBSTANCE: invention is meant for use in goggles, helmets, masks and screens to protect person's eyes from glaring optical radiation formed high-power radiation sources. In agreement with invention optical radiation is interrupted and scattered in turn by each element of matrix optical shutter thanks to its reduced translucence and optical radiation is let pass to eyes through other elements of matrix optical shutter. Mirror component of optical radiation reflected from eyes is focused on sensitive surface of optical radiation detector and is converted to electric signal. Electric signal is amplified and compared with its threshold level. If electric signal exceeds threshold value then elements of matrix optical shutter which let optical radiation from glaring source pass to eyes are chosen, translucence of chosen elements of matrix optical shutter is reduced, optical radiation from glaring source is interrupted and scattered by chosen elements of matrix optical shutter and optical radiation is let pass to eyes through other elements of matrix optical shutter without decrease of their translucence. Matrix liquid-crystal screen is used in the capacity of matrix optical shutter. EFFECT: raised efficiency of protection of eyes. 2 cl, 1 dwg _
