SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel polycyclic phthalazines, in part, to disubstituted maduraphthalazines 10,12,15,16-tetrahydroxy-8-methoxy-11-methyl-1,9,14-trioxo-1,2,6,7,9,14-hexahydronaphthaceno-[1,2-g]-phthalazines of the formula (I) where R¹ means residue of the formula -(CR⁴R⁵)_n-COY or -Ph(R⁶)-(COY) where R⁴ and R⁵ mean H; n means numbers 1-4; R⁶ means H; Y means OR⁷ where R⁷ means H or (C₁-C₁₀)-alkyl either ion of alkaline metal or ammonium ion R² and R³ means hydrogen atom and invention relates to also salts, esters and amides of compounds of the formula (I). The proposed compounds are effective against strains of gram-positive microorganisms and first of all against multiresistant staphylococci and against microorganisms resistant to glycopeptides, for example, vancomycin and against enterococci and therefore they can be used for preparing medicinal agents eliciting an antibacterial effect. Invention proposes also a medicinal agent with antibacterial effect that contains compound of the formula (I) in common with physiologically acceptable accessory substances and carriers.
