FIELD: testing equipment. SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for test of pipe-line for leakproofness and determination of coordinates of point of leak in pipe- line. Procedure consists in reception of acoustic signals in two points along length of product pipeline, in location of leak and in subsequent correlation processing of received acoustic signals which leads to determination of difference in time of arrival of acoustic signals and of coordinate of point of leak. Acoustic signals are received in two points along length of product pipe-line in frequency range of f1, which satisfies certain mathematical ratio. Rejection of discrete components in each signal with subsequent spectral analysis of the latter is conducted prior to correlation processing of received acoustic signals and long-term spectral components with duration over 30 s and amplitude exceeding background by 3.0-6.0 dB are isolated from obtained spectra of signals and given spectral components are used to evaluate presence of leak. EFFECT: expanded application field of procedure testing leak-proofness of main product pipe-lines under automobile and rail roads, increased length of tested area and raised precision in determination of coordinates of point of leak in product pipe-line. 6 cl, 1 dwg
