CATHODIC PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR TRUNK PIPELINES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2202001 C2

FIELD: electrical signal transmission systems incorporated in electrochemical corrosion protection systems for trunk pipelines. SUBSTANCE: system has cathode-polarized pipeline and cathodic protection installation. Each cathodic protection installation has cathode station (converter), data receiving and recording centers, mains power supply, deep anodic grounding system, data measuring and processing unit, polarization potential sensor, corrosion rate sensor, hydrogen pickup sensor, receive-transmit unit, comparison electrode, logic, telemetering, and telecontrol unit, protection variables switching and measuring unit. First output of cathode station is connected to deep anodic grounding system, third output, to data measuring and processing unit, fourth output, to second input of data measuring and processing system whose output is connected to first input of logic, telemetering, and telecontrol unit, first output, to receive-transmit unit whose output is connected to second input of logic, telemetering, and telecontrol unit. Third input of the latter is connected to protection variables switching and measuring unit whose inputs are connected to pipeline, to outputs of comparison electrodes, and to outputs of all sensors. Newly introduced in each cathodic protection installation are phase control unit, pulse modulation unit, and selective filter. First input of the latter is connected to pipeline and second one, to comparison electrode output; selective filter output is connected to second input of transmit-receive unit whose second output is connected to input of pulse modulation unit; output of the latter is connected to pipeline and second input, to second output of cathode station whose inputs are series- connected to phase shifting unit and to power supply; control input of phase shifting unit is connected to second output of logic, telemetering, and telecontrol unit whose fourth input is connected to one of data reception and recording center.
