FIELD: nuclear and rocket engineering; filter elements. SUBSTANCE: method for producing porous materials and parts from carbides of transient high-melting materials of groups IV-VI to be used for cores of nuclear-reactor fuel elements, rockets, and filter elements involves mixing of metal oxide powder with carbon-containing component, drying, and molding followed by heat treatment of mixture obtained. Coal-tar pitch is used as carbon-containing component. Heat treatment process includes two stages; during first stage mixture is preheated at temperatures ranging between 20 and 800 C for 4-10.5 h at heating rate required for decomposition and removal of volatile components of coal-tar pitch; during second stage it is subjected to high-temperature agglomeration at 1900-2200 C for 0.5-3.0 h at heating rate of 100-150 deg. /h. Parts obtained in the process have porosity of 20-80% and pore size in desired range to ensure desired proportion between total and open porosity and uniformity of pyrometric characteristics throughout part volume. EFFECT: improved quality of products. 3 cl, 3 dwg, 2 tbl
