FIELD: methods of borehole mining of thick underground formations; applicable in hydraulic borehole mining of coal deposits within wide range of mining and geological conditions. SUBSTANCE: method includes tapping of formations by borehole through entire thickness of formation and its working by chamber coaxial to borehole with formation in chamber of connectors separating the chamber into compartments. Connectors are formed by leaving of mineral pillars. In this case, diameter of chamber is taken equal to not more than 20-24 diameters of borehole. Height of compartments and thickness of connector are taken corresponding to not more than 1-1.33 and not less than 20-24 diameters of borehole. Height of compartments and thickness of connector are taken corresponding to not more than 1-1.33 and not less than 0.2-0.3 chamber diameter.
