FIELD: fuel elements for nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: fuel element has can accommodating fuel-core material sealed at can ends by means of plugs; the latter are made of alloy produced by introducing alloy additives in can material. Alloy composition is chosen so that its elastic and plastic properties at pressure-processing temperature differ from same properties of core at same temperature by not more than 20% and alloy elongation at room temperature is minimum 15%. Can is made of aluminum and plugs, of aluminum alloy with following proportion of components, mass percent: magnesium 3.2-3.8; manganese 0.3-0.6; silicon 0.5-0.8; iron 0.5; copper 01; zinc 0.2; titanium 0.1; chromium 0.05. EFFECT: improved uniformity of fuel element characteristics throughout its length at various concentrations of heat components in its core. 2 cl, 2 dwg
