FIELD: chemical technological for cleaning gas from toxic impurities in hermetically closed rooms; life-support systems of manned spacecraft, submarines and hermetic rooms of bomb-proof shelters. SUBSTANCE: proposed apparatus includes heat exchanger-recuperator, inlet and outlet branch pipes, catalyst and electric heater arranged inside it. Heat exchanger is made in form of plates wound on housing forming passages of heat exchanger together with end heat-insulating covers. Inlet of heat exchanger is connected with passages of gas to be cleaned and outlet is connected with cleaned gas passage. Outer surface of passage through which gas to be cleaned flows is coated with heat-insulating layer. Catalyst and heater are arranged in one housing forming catalytic pack dividing inner cavity of heat exchanger housing into two chambers. Passage of gas to be cleaned is communicated with inlet holes of catalytic pack through hole in housing and first chamber; cleaned gas passage is communicated with outlet of catalytic pack through hole in housing and second chamber.
