FIELD: mining engineering; development of ore deposits in earthquake- prone regions. SUBSTANCE: method is designed for subsurface mining in earthquake-prone regions including earthquakes provoked by local breaking of ore blocks with aid of mass bursts of explosive material chargers weighing about 1000 t simultaneously to predict dangerous natural and man-caused dynamic occurrences dispensing with construction of specific subsurface stations equipped with expensive pieces of equipment in earthquake-prone regions. Subsurface stations of desired length are constructed in workings differently oriented in space. Instruments are installed along these stations. Physical quantities are recorded by means of these instruments for many years and formation of earthquake sites is predicted by deviations of their readings from calibrated values of these physical quantities. Subsurface stations are built in workings of operating mines. Mentioned instruments are voltage transducers mounted at characteristic points of subsurface station sectional areas. Physical quantities recorded are changes in voltages across these transducers at practically reasonable time intervals.
