SUBSTANCE: method comprises adding to alumina support active hydrogenating compounds, phase-forming promoters, and pore-forming components followed by molding and drying, whereas calcination is performed before and after addition of all or part of active hydrogenating compounds. According to invention, phase-forming promoters are aluminosilicate compounds with amorphous and crystalline structure and/or their mixtures in amounts between 20 and 70% of the total weight of support; aluminosilicate compounds with crystalline structure are zeolites of types β, Y, and ZSM-5; and active hydrogenating compounds are introduced from aqueous solutions of tungsten and/or molybdenum, nickel or cobalt having pH 2-6. EFFECT: enabled performing hydrofining of weighted petroleum fractions under conditions corresponding to process parameters used to run domestic plants for hydrofining of diesel fractions. 1 tbl, 3 ex
