SUBSTANCE: method for controlling process for cooling rolled pieces by several streams of cooling agent comprises steps of selecting optimal values of controlled parameters while taking into account heat conductivity in section of rolled piece and temperature of beginning of phase conversion; measuring temperature and total flowrate of supplied cooling agent, temperature of cooling agent after its removal from cooled piece; measuring flowrate of one stream of cooling agent and its temperature after its removal from cooled piece; determining total heat extraction and heat extraction of each stream of cooling agent according to measured parameters; in addition before supplying cooling agent measuring surface temperature of rolled piece and rolling rate and also surface temperature of rolled piece while taking into account its delayed values after removal of cooling agent from rolled piece; determining total heat extraction and heat extraction of each stream of cooling agent according to measured values of flowrate and temperature of each stream of cooling agent after removal from cooled rolled piece; comparing real and preset optimal values of controlled parameters and on base of difference between real parameters and preset ones changing flowrate of each stream of cooling agent according to predetermined value of total heat extraction of cooling agent determined with use of heat balance equation.
