FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves heating blank of different steel grades in furnace to temperatures providing resistance to deformation equal to that of strongest steel grade; rolling blank in roll mill stands; preliminarily determining deformation temperature in each roll mill stand depending on blank heating temperature for each steel grade; determining resistance to deformation for each chemical composition of steel in each roll mill stand; determining on the basis of maximum value of resistance to deformation of strongest steel grade in specific roll mill stand deformation temperature of other steel grades, at which their resistance to deformation is equal to maximum resistance to deformation of strongest steel grade in the same roll mill stand; determining blank heating temperature for steel of each specific chemical composition on the basis of said deformation temperature. Method allows blank heating temperature for further rolling to be optimized, with chemical composition of steel and deformation-speed parameters of rolling equipment being taken into account. EFFECT: reduced total power consumption for heating and rolling processes and prolonged service life of rolling equipment. 1 dwg, 2 tbl
