FIELD: nuclear engineering; research reactors. SUBSTANCE: method used for testing multiple-element power-generating channels with communicating spaces of electrode-to-electrode clearance and fuel element in loop channels includes measurement of output power characteristics of power-generating channel, diagnostics of heat power, and post-test analyses of electrode surfaces for condition. In first alternative power-generating elements of channel are equipped with gas vent tubes with capillary diameter in tips increased by 1.2-5 times compared with standard value. In second alternative tests are conducted at heat power of power-generating channel increased by 1.2-1.5 times with current simultaneously increased to maintain operating temperature of emitters at standard level.
