ANTENNA SYSTEM AND APERTURE POWER DISTRIBUTION CONTROL DEVICE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: antenna engineering; antenna systems for primarily short- and medium-range radars. SUBSTANCE: antenna system provides for generating total and differential directivity patterns in two modes with respect to width of main beam and for changing type of polarization from linear to circular one. Radiating curtain is, essentially, resonant slotted waveguide antenna made in the form of two antenna arrays integrated by hybrid device and mounted directly on case accommodating transceiver devices of radar. Introduced in antenna system is aperture power distribution control device affording radiation from the whole aperture or from its desired part. This device is, essentially, built of power splitter such as slotted waveguide bridge and electromagnetic drive. One of wide waveguide walls has rectangular slot, t≥t₀, wide and d<λ/2 in length, in vicinity of communication slit shorted through depth l = n×λ/2, where t₀ is thickness of common narrow waveguide wall; λ is wavelength; n is integer number. Opposite wide wall carries flush-mounted contactless strip which is free to move under the action of electromagnetic drive.
