APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING FULLERENS Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: production of novel materials. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has housing 1, reaction chamber 2 with reaction zone 3. Reaction chamber 2 is made in the form of two truncated cones 7 and 8 joined with their large bases. Mechanical grips 4 located in reaction zone 3 are equipped with disks 5 and 6 manufactured of carbonaceous material. Disks are mounted eccentrically on shafts 9 and 10 connected with drives 11 and 12. Branch pipes 13, 14 and 15 attached tangentially to reaction chamber wall generatrices are connected to compressed inert gas source 16. Internal lining 17 of elastoplastic material with channeled surface is built into reaction chamber 2 . Space between internal lining and chamber wall is communicated with source 18 of working fluid supplied in pulsed mode. Strip 20 with shaped through openings 21 is fixed within chamber 2 so that it is running along chamber wall in helical spiral 19 having variable coil increasing toward mid portion of chamber 2. Diameter of openings 21 arranged closer to wall is greater than that of openings arranged closer to axis of chamber 2. Fullerons C60 are accumulated in openings arranged closer to axis of chamber 2, heavier fullerons are accumulated in zones farther from mentioned axis. Pulsed supplying of working fluid causes generation of self-induced vibrations under internal lining 17 to allow pulp to be continuously separated from base product. EFFECT: increased efficiency by automatized process of producing and separating fullerons and improved selectiveness of separation process. 2 cl, 5 dwg
