FIELD: converter engineering. SUBSTANCE: wafer thyristor unit using double-ended water cooling system has common cooler in the form of flat tube; six wafer thyristors each provided with individual coolers and all installed in two rows, three thyristors per row with individual coolers, each on either side of common cooler; pipelines providing communication between individual coolers and common cooler as well as intercommunication between individual coolers by means of union-nipple joints; axial displacement and temperature deformation compensating members; current-collecting buses with ceramic disks. Axial displacement and temperature deformation compensating members are made in the form of pipelines with single-turn coils; each individual cooler of intermediate thyristor either side of common cooler communicates with two other adjacent individual coolers of two other thyristors directly through pipelines with single-turn coils to form nonseparable cooler wherein individual coolers are free to move relative to one another.
