FIELD: microwave engineering; radar, radio communications, measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: attenuator primarily used for reducing heavy power of microwave signal has insulating substrate with conducting screen deposited on one of its sides and resistive material, on its other side, the latter carrying conductors; resistive material layer is stepwise reducing in width from center to ends of microstrip attenuator; conductors are disposed at points where resistive layer width changes; they are rounded off on ends and provided with lugs on inner edges. Resistive layer width may be such that it changes every quarter-wavelength; rounded-off ends may be shaped as part of circumference; lugs of adjacent conductors may be contiguous. Provision is made to eliminate probable local overheating at joints between resistive material and conductors as well as to prevent breakdown at resistive material to conductor joints. EFFECT: enhanced reliability and dissipation power limits. 3 cl, 2 dwg
