METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING POWER GENERATED PLANT IN UNDERGROUND COMBUSTION OF COAL Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: mining, particularly, generation of electric power due to coal underground combustion. SUBSTANCE: method includes construction carried out in three stages. At the first stage, two holes are constructed on boundary of occurrence of large bed of bituminous coal by method of rod drilling. Holes have charging chambers 5-6 m from one another with diameter at hole mouth equal 2 dm, and at bottom hole of 1 dm. Placed into charge chambers are trotyl cartridges with the help of which general egg-shaped chamber is formed, adjacent to coal seam. At the second stage, casing pipes are introduced into holes which serve to discharge formed gases or supply of compressed air. Pipe for supply of compressed air accommodates extensible injector with pyrotechnical composition and electric ignition device for igniting of coal seam. At the third stage, gas turbine, reducer, electric generator, air compressor and starting cylinder with compressed air are installed on surface, electric igniting device is switched on, and coal seam is ignited.
