FIELD: foundry. SUBSTANCE: core has hollow body, central refrigerating member and deformable members having segment-shaped section with base of segment shaped to conform that of working surface of core. Deformable members are made double-layer. Layer which is in contact with liquid metal is formed as thin-walled shell and layer arranged between shell and working surface of core is made from low-melting temperature alloy. After melting of low-melting temperature layer of deformable member and flowing thereof through bottom part, its thin-walled shell adheres to working surface of core under the action of shrinking deformation in hardened metal layer to assume the form of working surface. Core of such construction allows hollow ingots and castings with cavity of required geometric shape to be produced. EFFECT: increased efficiency and provision for obtaining ingots and castings with cavity of precise dimensions and free from shrinkage cracks. 5 dwg
