FIELD: foundry; production of hollow castings in metal molds.
SUBSTANCE: proposed rod has sections with expendable gaskets laid in between them and anti-burning coat. Shell is made in form of metal screen with square meshes having sides of 2-6 mm which are made from wire, 1-3 mm in diameter. Shell has no more than three layers of screen. After pouring molten metal into mold cavity, shell is molten forming many centers of crystallization. Layer of solidified metal prevents molten metal from entering the gaps in between the sections after burning of gaskets. Under action of shrinkage deformation in solidified layer sections move radially, thus ensuring free shrinkage of castings without shrinkage cracks.
EFFECT: improved quality of castings due to fine-grain structure in metal on side of rod; enhanced reliability of rod.
