Reaction of selective oxidation of carbon monoxide is conducted in presence of catalyst. It contains ruthenium as primary component and alkaline or alkaline-earth metal as additional component. Alkaline or alkaline-earth metal is used in the form of simple mass of metal or in the form of alloy with ruthenium, or ruthenium is used as primary component and nickel as additional one, ruthenium is used as primary component and zinc as additional component.
