FIELD: mixing equipment. SUBSTANCE: rotor mixer has elongated housing, rotor mounted inside housing and rotated through engine by shaft. Rotor and housing inner surfaces have axially symmetric and periodic wavy shape in axis z of rotation. Liquid medium is driven by tangential stresses created on surface of rotating rotor and mixing thereof is effected in periodic cell system along axis z of rotation defined by wavy surfaces of rotor R1(z) and housing R2(z) and containing eddy structures with intensive radial-axial circulation. Medium motion eddy structures are induced by rotor and housing surface shape. Period λ of structures is determined by period of changing radii of surfaces R1(z) and R2(z). Such construction allows required axial flow of medium to be created without additional devices, when internal cavity between rotor and housing surfaces has shape asymmetrical relative to cell middle portion. Apparatus may be used for mixing different liquid media, dispersion and homogenization of liquids in suspended and emulsified state, as well as for extracting base component from carrier in the form of solid particles or for extraction processes. EFFECT: increased efficiency by creating periodic eddy structures with intensified radial-axial circulation of mixed media and overcoming radial separation effects and by settling down heavy mixture components. 3 cl, 8 dwg
