STEERING GEAR OF WHEELED VEHICLE WITH FRONT AND REAR STEERABLE WHEELS Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: transport engineering; steering gears. SUBSTANCE: steering gear of vehicle has steering system and steering booster of front steerable wheels. Front wheel steering system consists of levers and tie-rods mechanically coupling steering wheel through steering mechanism with front steerable wheels. Front wheel steering booster consists of hydraulically coupled tank, pump, distributor and power cylinder. Front wheel steering system is mechanically coupled with steering system and steering booster of rear steerable wheels by means of variable-length coupling. Steering booster of rear steerable wheels consists of hydraulically coupled tank, pump, distributor and power cylinder. Steering system of rear steerable wheels consists of levers and tie- rods mechanically coupled with rear steerable wheels and with variable-length coupling and is furnished with special device to return rear steerable wheels in neutral position made in form of spring stabilizer. Variable-length coupling is made in form of power cylinder with two pistons, one of which is mechanically coupled with steering system and steering booster of front steerable wheels and the other, with steering system and steering booster of rear steerable wheels. Only one hole is made in middle of housing of variable-length coupling by means of which coupling is hydraulically connected with two-position distributor operated by speed pickup. Two-position distributor is of three-line type being made so that in one of its positions first and third lines are interconnected, and in other position, second and third lines. First line of two-position distributor is hydraulically connected with steering booster pump of rear steerable wheels, second line, with tank, and third line, with variable-length coupling. EFFECT: improved efficiency of vehicle steering gear owing to reduction power taken for operation of steering booster pump of rear steerable wheels. 1 dwg
