FIELD: sorbents. SUBSTANCE: material contains (i) at least one absorbing layer including thin hydrophilic fibers of cellulose or cellulose derivatives in the form of microfibrils and absorbing polymer particles, said polymer particles being bound to each other through thin microfibril fibers, and (ii) support. Fibers are from 2.0 to 0.01 mcm in diameter and their hydrophilicity factor after dispersing in centrifuge is superior to 10 ml/g. Absorbing layer may be intertwined with a nonwoven material. Absorbing material can also be presented in the form of tube, which is made from tubular support of nonwoven material and adsorbing polymer attached to the latter. Material is prepared by formation from suspension of microfibrils and adsorbing polymer particles dispersed in disperse liquid on at least one surface of support, removal of disperse liquid, and drying. Product can be layered. Apparatus for manufacturing such a material has multiple nozzles with outlets, through which disperse liquid is applied. EFFECT: increased moisture-absorption capacity. 32 cl, 91 dwg, 17 tbl
