FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particularly, blast-furnace process. SUBSTANCE: method of iron smelting includes charging into blast furnace of coke, iron ore material, fluxed additions, air blasting and fuel blowing, and charging of solid fuel additive to periphery annular zone of furnace top with width equaling 0.1-0.5 furnace radius. Amount of fuel additive provides for supply to furnace of 0.5-55% of all carbon supplied to furnace with coke, solid fuel additive and blown fuel. Blown into air tuyere additionally are finely divided mineral materials in amount ensuring supply together with them to furnace of 1.0-50% of all iron and 0.04-40% of all CaO supplied to furnace. Solid fuel additive is used in form of fine-fraction coke and/or peat or peat-ore briquettes. Finely divided mineral materials are used in form of iron ore and/or ore concentrate, and/or lime, and/or industrial wastes. EFFECT: reduced consumption of blast-furnace coke and prepared iron ore materials, and utilized wastes of metallurgical production. 7 cl, 3 ex
