FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: method consists in destruction of petroleum via partial hydrogenation pyrolysis in presence of fine suspended catalyst, in particular concentrate of metals, prepared by gasification of heavy petroleum distillation residue in mixed synthesis gas-water steam plasma. Hydrogen source for partial hydrogenation pyrolysis and plasma gasification of heavy residue is heavy residue and water steam. Advantage of process is elimination of installations for preliminary desulfurization, deasphalting and demetallization of raw material, and hydrogen production, as well as use of inexpensive catalyst. When content of light fractions in high-viscosity petroleum is 35 wt %, yield of these fractions reaches 60 wt %. EFFECT: increased yield of light fractions. 1 dwg
