FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the industrial synthesis of monochloroacetic acid. Method involves chlorination of acetic acid with gaseous chlorine. Acetic acid is heated preliminary to temperature 120-130 C and fed to the swirl-chamber of preliminary mixing under pressure 0.5-1 MPa. Simultaneously, atomic chlorine is added to a chamber in mass ratio chlorine : acid = 1:1 at temperature 750-900 C and with the conversion of acetic acid to the gaseous phase. The reaction mixture is fed to a direct-flow tube in regime of the ideal displacement and with the activation of reagents by UV-irradiation. Reaction products are subjected for step-by-step condensation with isolation of monochloroacetic acid, acetic acid and abgas hydrogen chloride. EFFECT: simplified technological process. 4 cl
