FIELD: environment protection. SUBSTANCE: method involves settling spent antifreeze to separate oils and sludge, evaporation of water and vacuum distillation of ethylene glycol. The latter is alkalinized to pH 11.0-13.0 prior to be fed into rectifier and distillation is conducted at residual pressure 12-24 kPa, still temperature 90- 150 C and column top temperature 0.7-105 C.
