RING LASER Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2188488 C1

FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention specifically refers to field of conversion of rotation parameters to electric signal with the aid of gyroscopes in which ring laser is employed as sensitive element, for instance, in navigation systems. Ring laser includes case, optical resonator formed by three non-dispersive prisms of total internal reflection, optical elements to converge beams brought out of resonator and active element in which elements of optical resonator and optical elements to converge beams are positioned with mounting surfaces. Base element has slits which secure change of relative positions of prisms of resonator under mechanical action on base element. Value of angle α confined between reflecting and refracting faces of each prism in optical resonator is determined by relationship α = arcsin((sinϕ)/ns)+γs, where ϕ is angle of beam incidence on refracting face which is equal to Brewster angle for all faces but one reflecting two beams to bring them out of resonator; ns is index of refraction of material of prisms, γs is angle of incidence of beam on reflecting face which is larger than critical angle of total internal reflection for all prisms of resonator. Relationship α = arcsin((sinϕ)/nk)<γklim should realized for one prism of resonator, where nk is index of refraction of material of prisms for rival wavelength; γklim is critical angle of total internal reflection for rival wavelength. Optical elements to converge beams brought out of resonator present prism turning first of brought-out beams coming in the form of corner reflector with input face arranged at angle close to Brewster angle for working wavelength. EFFECT: increased accuracy and reliability, prolonged service life of resonator, reduced labor input. 2 dwg
