METHOD OF AIR SCRUBBING AND DEVICE FOR ITS EMBODIMENT Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: air (gases) scrubbing from suspended particles, dust and other impurities; applicable in cleaning of dust-laden air and/or effluent gases in various industries. SUBSTANCE: method includes supply of polluted air flow to closed cylindrical casing to surface of fluid in it, coarse cleaning of polluted air with fluid, subsequent final cleaning with the help of reflectors and separator and its direction to discharge outlet pipe. Polluted air flow is supplied tangentially to wall of closed cylindrical casing and at some angle to horizontal plane with simultaneous increase of polluted air flow velocity above fluid by reduction of flow section of polluted air by fluid itself and formation of moisture-saturated cyclone inside closed cylindrical casing. with its subsequent final cleaning in separator by moving moisture-saturated cyclone upward up to collision with impermeable barrier in the form of cylindrical casing cover and deflectors, its turning downward into circular slot between separator and outlet pipe, further sharp retardation of air flow in fine cleaning air chamber and in outlet pipe with subsequent precipitation in them of fluid condensate and finely divided dust; further collision of air flow with separator bottom and its turning upward to outlet pipe. In addition, air flow is passed through electrostatic precipitator in outlet pipe. Device for method embodiment has closed cylindrical casing with fluid in its lower part and inlet pipe, outlet pipe installed in cover of closed cylindrical casing, concentrically to it, and deflectors accommodated in cylindrical casing above fluid level. Device also has separator installed in upper part of closed cylindrical casing concentrically to outlet pipe with formation of circular slot between outlet pipe and separator, and fine cleaning air chamber found between separator bottom with discharge hole, and inlet of outlet pipe whose cross-section area exceeds that of circular slot between separator and outlet pipe. In this case, longitudinal axis of inlet pipe is tangentially to wall of closed cylindrical casing and at an angle to horizontal plane, and outlet of inlet pipe is installed with partial immersion into liquid.
