Abstract RU 2188791 C1

FIELD: production of chlorine dioxide used for decontamination of drinking and waste water. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in preparation of chlorine dioxide solution through interaction of chlorate and sodium chloride and sulfuric acid of high concentration including separation of chlorine dioxide and chlorine into gaseous phase, check of residence time of reaction medium in reaction zone followed by removal of gaseous mixture and waste reaction solution for absorption by water at rarefied atmosphere. Process is conducted in at least two stages at successive reduction of concentration of reagents; working concentration of sodium chlorate and chloride in reaction zone ranges from 1.5 to 0.25 mole/l at first stage; evolving gas is diluted with air at first stage to explosion-proof concentration by chlorine dioxide and waste reaction solution is diluted with water at last stage to concentration of sodium sulfate lesser than limiting solubility. Reactor used for realization of this process has housing with branch pipes for inlet and outlet of reagents and products; this housing has at least two overflow reaction chambers located in cascade pattern; housing is provided with branch pipes for proportioning sodium chlorate and chloride solution into upper chamber, and sulfuring acid and air to upper chamber; these branch pipes are fitted in upper cover of housing; branch pipe for proportioning water into lower chamber, branch pipe for removal of reaction products from lower chamber located at level of surface. Sodium chlorate and chloride solution inlet branch pipe is brought-out to gas-and-air space above surface of reaction solution and sulfuric acid inlet branch pipe is brought-out directly to volume of reaction solution. Air supply branch pipe is brought-out to reaction solution volume from bottom of upper chamber. Water inlet branch pipe is brought-out to reaction solution volume in lower chamber.
